- Nishi Honganji Temple. A World Heritage-registered temple establish in 1602.
- Nijo Castle. According to Wiki, it's "the Kyoto residence of the Tokugawa Shogun, built in 1603, is noted for the contrast of its solemn exterior and gorgeous interiors." Not sure about the gorgeous interiors...overall, most Japanese castles are quite boring. Impressive architecture outside but inside is kind of "blah." Maybe I am just used to over the top European castles, so seeing sliding doors and simple design is a bit strange when describing a castle. Yes, I am a hater. Don't hate.
- Kinkakuji Temple (Golden Pavilion)
- Nara Park - This was probably the coolest part of the whole tour. You could walk around the park and interact with wild deer that roam the park! By interact I mean, buy treats from a vendor and the deer will follow you around like you are bait. They are cute to look at but have a mean streak and will kick or bite you if you don't give up the treats.
- Todaiji Temple - The temple holds the world's largest bronze statue of the Great Statue of Buddha. (Height of 14.98 m (49.1 ft)) Absolutely amazing! Best temple experience in Japan!
- Kasuga Grand Shrine - "Thousands of stone lanterns line the path to this serene shrine hidden in the woods."
